Baume & Mercier’s Introduces the Hampton Big Date Dual Time

A personal favourite from this year’s (virtual) Watches & Wonders, the Baume & Mercier Hampton Big Date Dual Time delivers an instant Art Deco aesthetic. That’s no accident, as the rectangular watch case purposefully calls upon the 1920s architectural movement. Representing a symphony of subtle curves, thick edges, legible details, and smooth surfaces, this model is living proof that some design language simply never goes out of style.

Peer within the rectangular case of the Hampton Big Date Dual Time to discover a silver-coloured opaline dial perched under a dome of crystal sapphire. Arabic numerals, riveted indexes, and sword-shaped hands impart harmony, fluidity, minimalism, and modernity in equal measure. A small seconds dual time zone subdial with a day-night indicator is expertly counterbalanced by the big date function above it.?Under the skin is automatic self-winding Soprod TT651 movement, enhanced with a “C?tes de Genève” design.

Indisputably eye-catching, the Hampton Big Date Dual Time makes expert use of its Art Deco inspirations (as do other models in the Hampton range). That starts with the rectangular case design and extends to the fluid interplay between luxury and legibility. And while a classical vibe persists, there’s no questioning the piece’s modern allure. Choose between a black alligator strap and triple-folding buckle and prepare to turn heads.
